About Us

Our History

New Beginnings Family Services is a community based, family focused, and mission driven organization that provides therapeutic foster care services.

New Beginnings Family Services was founded in 2000 in Louisville, KY by Terry & Bridgette Jones and James & Brenda Graham as a private agency. Together, their mission was to enrich the life of children and families by providing therapeutic services throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Today, New Beginnings is not only continuing to meet the challenges of training and supporting foster care families, but is expanding its horizons and reaching out to the needs of the community by offering child and family therapy to those seeking support and guidance.

New Beginnings has an advisory board of directors who embrace its mission and believe the special care devoted to families can make a difference in the life of a child. The advisory board is composed of community representatives from a variety of backgrounds including health care workers, clergy, homemakers, and business owners.

Letter from our CEO Terry Jones:

Welcome to our New Beginnings Family!

New Beginnings Family Services is a community based, family focused, and mission driven organization that provides therapeutic foster care services across the state of Kentucky and enriches the lives of children and families.

For over 15 years, New Beginnings has provided children in care with quality foster homes, equipping them to meet the needs of the children through extensive trainings, family consultant and clinical support, family/community engagement, competitive reimbursements, community partnerships, company collaborations, all of which support the agency’s mission as a whole.

As we strive to continually meet the needs of the community, New Beginnings has widened its service arm to include the following programs:

  • Behavioral/Mental Health Services; in-home and community-based therapeutic services to children and families with fully-licensed, professional clinical team.
  • TCM Program; Targeted-Case Management services to age-appropriate teens and adults in the community, individual service assessment and connection to services/providers in the community for continued wellness in various areas of life.
  • Adoption Home Study Services; Serve as Home Evaluator for adoptive homes across the state to provide thorough and complete home study portfolio. (*training and certification of therapeutic homes also.)
  • Here We Grow Project: Indiana; Strategic collaboration with the State of Indiana to offer therapeutic foster care services to children and families in Southern Indiana.

New Beginnings believes in “casting our net” when seeking out opportunities to collaborate and encourage community partnerships. We sponsor the Via Colori’ Street Painting Festival, which draws over 100+ artists from across the country together each year, to create large scale chalk paintings, using the sidewalk as their canvas. This event benefits the children through New Beginnings Foundation and brings families, vendors, community groups, and local businesses together for one of the most creative festivals held in the State of Kentucky.

We welcome you to join our family and help us plant seeds of love, hope, and a future for Kentucky’s children. Whether opening your home to foster, supporting the mission financially, or serving with your time, talents, and gifts, we invite you to come grow with us at New Beginnings Family Services, Inc.

About Us

New Beginnings Family Services is a community based, family focused, and mission driven organization that provides therapeutic foster care services.

#befosteraware in 2018, over 9,500 Kentucky children have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect. Kentucky needs more foster families now. Together, we can advance the conversation about how everyone can play a role in foster care.

A child’s biggest worries should be things like finishing homework, learning to ride a bike, getting out of eating brussel sprouts, or passing a driver’s test.

Unfortunately, some children have a lot more to worry about. They have to deal with things like physical and sexual abuse, neglect, and effects of alcohol and other drugs abuse. The invisible suitcases that they carry are filled to the brim with traumatic reminders and beliefs that the world around them is not safe. This can take an enormous toll on their emotional and physical well-being and make it difficult to trust, to feel safe, or to feel loved. It can also hinder their ability to create appropriate social capital. Social Capital is vital to success as an adult.

Foster care is designed to provide structured, nurturing, loving environments in which children can thrive until they are able to be reunited with their biological families or placed in another permanent home. Many of these children need specialized services. New Beginnings can provide those services and support the families that open their homes for these children. As a foster parent, you are expected to act as a positive role model to the foster children in your care, to provide structure, and to provide emotional, educational, and social support. You are responsible for providing foster children with a sense of family while they are distanced from their own. You are their safety net. But you are not alone. We are here 24/7 to help!
